August 7, Kathmandu: In order to successfully execute federalism, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called for a concentration on cooperative efforts and communication.
In a meeting with representatives of the Valley Mayors‘ Forum on Wednesday at Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Oli stressed the value of central and local government working together to resolve conflicts instead of vying for supremacy.
Prime Minister Oli declared, “People’s representatives are elected to serve the public.” “We have to resist the need to follow our egos and arrogance. People need to be treated with consideration and respect. It is not our place to mistreat, oppress, or take advantage of them. False acclaim and social media appreciation are not long-term fixes.”
The Nepal Electricity Authority’s practice of distributing bills and arrears for street lights to local levels alarmed the conference. In response, Prime Minister Oli pledged to work with pertinent departments and organizations to facilitate a solution. He also agreed that trash management required a sustainable strategy.
In an effort to better serve the public, Forum Chairman Chiribabu Maharjan urged Prime Minister Oli to continue helping to ensure that local and federal governments work together effectively.
