Guyana, June 14th. India has entered the finals of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup after defeating the defending champions England.
India easily defeated England by 68 runs in the Thursday night match in Guyana. India has entered the World Cup final for the third time.
Chasing the challenging target of 172 runs given by India, England was reduced to 113 runs for the loss of all wickets in 16.4 overs.
Harry Brook scored 25 runs for England. Similarly, opener Jas Buttler scored 23, Jofra Archer scored 21 and Lim Livingstone scored 11 runs.
Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each for India. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets. India, who lost the toss and were invited to bat first, scored 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
India’s opener and captain Rohit Sharma scored the highest 57 runs. Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav scored 47, Hardik Pandey scored 27, Ravindra Jadeja scored 17 and Akshar Patel scored 10 unbeaten runs.
Chris Jordan took three wickets for England. Rhys Topley, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid took one wicket each.
India will compete against South Africa in the final on Sunday. South Africa defeated Afghanistan by nine wickets to reach the final for the first time. India won the World Cup in 2007.
