Nepal test team lost by one run against South Africa in group Charanko Teso match under ICC T20 World Cup.
After a poor performance in batting, Nepal came close to winning but the result was handed over. With this defeat, Nepal, who is in Group ‘D’, has been eliminated from the World Cup.
Nepal gave a tough challenge to South Africa in the match at the Kingstown Stadium in Saint Vincent on Saturday morning. So the Nepali batsmen lost the rhythm in the last over.
As a result, Nepal lost the chance to get a historic win against a strong Test team for the first time. Nepal had to beat South Africa to reach the Super Eight. Nepal will now play the last match of the group against Bangladesh on Monday.
Chasing the target of 116 runs, Nepal managed to score 140 runs in the allotted 20 overs with the loss of seven wickets.
Opener Ashif Shekhle scored the highest 42 runs for Nepal. He has made the said run with 49 balls and a partnership of four fours and one six.
Anil Shahle scored 27 runs. He scored the said runs in 24 balls with three fours and one six. Opener Kushal Bhurtela added 13 runs.
Similarly, Dipendrasinh Airi was out for 6 runs. Kushal Malla returned to the pavilion for one run and skipper Rohit Paudel for zero runs. Sompal Kamile scored an unbeaten eight and 6 runs for Gulshan.
South Africa’s Tavarez Samsi took four wickets in Ballingam. Enrich Notge and Erin Markram took one wicket each. Earlier, South Africa, who lost the toss and were invited to bat first, scored 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Opener Reza Hendrikle scored 43 runs for South Africa. Similarly, Tristan Stubbs scored 27 not out, captain Aiden Markram scored 15 runs and Keeton de Kuckle scored 10 runs.
Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtelle took four wickets in Balinga. Dipendra Singh took three wickets. With this result, South Africa remained unbeaten in Group ‘D’.
South Africa, who have already reached the Super Eight, have scored eight points from four games. Second placed Bangladesh has four points from three games. The Netherlands is in third place with two points.
Nepal has one point from three games. Sri Lanka is at the bottom with one point. 2014 winner Sri Lanka has also been eliminated from the World Cup.
Nepal lost to Netherlands by 6 wickets in their first match in America. The second match against Nepal and Sri Lanka was canceled due to rain. Nepal will now play Bangladesh for prestige.
