On the occasion of International Indigenous Day, the Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation organized a program in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Prime Minister Prachanda reportedly mentioned that the previous attempts by indigenous communities to establish their identity and secure their recognition had been unsuccessful due to the lack of a majority. Spokesperson of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), Agni Prasad Sapkota, has been proven guilty in the gold smuggling case. The partys leadership has decided to take action against him as well. Sapkota, who also heads the party’s Publicity and Propaganda Department, addressed a press conference on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters, Paris Danda, where he stated that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s involvement in the gold smuggling case has been confirmed through facts and evidence. In the context of the Sun Tawari case, the NCP (UML) has obstructed the session, demanding the establishment of a high-level commission for an investigation. The session started smoothly, but as soon as the NCP (UML) members stood up, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire allowed NCP (UML) lawmaker Surya Thapa to speak. The government has approved Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad’s visit to China. The decision was made public during a press conference organized at Singha Durbar on Wednesday by the Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology.
