According to the information posted on X Post by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), Chandrayaan-3, the lunar mission launched by India, successfully entered the Moon’s orbit 22 days after its launch on July 14. Initially, the spacecraft’s velocity was reduced to get captured into the Moon’s gravitational pull.
ISRO’s X Post mentioned that MOX (Mission Operations Complex) and ISTRAC (ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network) were involved in Chandrayaan-3. The spacecraft has been kept in the Moon’s orbit successfully. Now, on August 6, 2023, at around 11 PM, the spacecraft’s orbit will be reduced further. Before landing, Chandrayaan-3 will make four orbital adjustments.
On August 1, around 12 AM, Chandrayaan-3 was sent from the Earth’s orbit to the Moon’s direction. This maneuver is called Trans-lunar injection. Previously, the spacecraft was revolving in an elliptical orbit, with a minimum distance of 236 kilometers and a maximum distance of 1,27,603 kilometers from Earth.
The landing on the Moon is scheduled for August 23.
