In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier, Bhutan has set a target of 40 runs for Nepal in the ongoing match.
Bhutan, having lost the toss and batting first against Malaysia, managed to score 39 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 8 wickets.
Apart from Bhutan’s captain, Dinchin Wangmo, who scored 21 runs, the other batters couldn’t contribute much.
For Nepal, Pooja Mahato took 3 wickets, while Kavita Kunwar, Khushi Dangol, and captain Rubina Chhetri each took 1 wicket.
Nepal is aiming for its third consecutive win to strengthen its chances of reaching the semifinals.
In their first match, Nepal defeated Malaysia by 5 runs, and in the second game, they thrashed Bahrain by 10 wickets.
Bhutan, on the other hand, had lost their first match to the UAE but managed to secure a victory against Qatar in their second game.
Both Nepal and Bhutan are eyeing the semifinals with their second win.
Nepal will play against Qatar on the 18th, and in the final group-stage match on the 19th, they will face the UAE.
The semifinals are scheduled for the 21st, and the final will be held on the 22nd.
A total of 11 nations are participating in the competition, divided into two groups. In Group A are Nepal, Bahrain, Bhutan, Malaysia, Qatar, and the UAE. Group B consists of China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Kuwait, and Myanmar.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals, and the two finalists will have the opportunity to play in the 2024 Global T20 Qualifier.
