Nepali national cricket team’s spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has qualified for the finals of the Jaguar’s Global T20 Canada 2023. In the first qualifier on Friday night, the Surrey team defeated the Winnipeg Night’s 16 by 38 runs, securing their place in the final.
Surrey set a target of 140 runs, which Winnipeg Night’s failed to chase down, managing only 100 runs in 16 overs. Fabian Allen scored 27 runs off 20 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes for the Night’s.
For Surrey, the fast-paced batter Mathew Ford scored 4, and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1 wicket. Sandeep’s bowling figures were 3 overs, 15 runs, and 1 wicket.
Before that, Surrey had lost the toss and were asked to bat first, managing to score 139 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the designated 20 overs. Surrey’s captain Ifthikar Ahmed scored 36 runs off 28 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. On the batting side, Sandeep Lamichhane had an opportunity and scored 4 runs off 6 balls.
In the second qualifier, Nepali all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee will be competing for the Montreal Tigers against the Winnipeg Night’s on Saturday night. The winner of this match will play against Surrey for the championship title. The final match will be held on Sunday.
