In the play “Karesa Concert,” which has been prepared by the students of Pokhara Theater, various vegetables like potatoes, onions, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, bitter gourd, ginger, bottle gourd, coriander, pumpkin, radish, chili, and beans are personified and showcased through the medium of drama.
The characters in the play include Rameshbabu Timalsina as “Farsi Bahadur,” Anju Dahal as “Pyajimaya Baner,” Roshni Ramdam as “Golbhedako Bhoomika,” Dipshana Vishwakarma as “Lasun Baner,” Anusa Pariyar as “Saag Baner,” Ranju Dahal as “Karela Baner,” and Rohit Paudel as “Bhale Baner,” among others. The play is being staged at Gandharva Theater in Pokhara with a beautifully designed set.
Written by Kedar Shrestha, the play is directed by Anju Dahal. The playwright Shrestha has aimed to educate children through this drama. Director Dahal emphasized the importance of knowing about vegetables like carrots, which are part of everyday life, through this play. The play was performed at various schools in Pokhara under the name “Booking So,” but now it is presented to the general public as “Public So” at Gandharva Theater in Pokhara on Saturday at 1 PM.
Though the change in the management of Pokhara Theater has resulted in targeting students up to grade five for the play “Manteshwari,” the production has significant importance for parents, teachers, and drama enthusiasts. The play, which is about one hour and ten minutes long, is accompanied by music composed by Kamal Keshi, stage decoration by Amrit Pariyar, and direction by Milan Shrestha.
