In the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, Pakistan got off to a great start by defeating Bangladesh in their first game on Wednesday. The match was played in Lahore Pakistan.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh managed to score only 93 runs before getting all out in 38.4 overs. In response, Pakistan’s home team chased down the target with ease, losing only three wickets in 39.3 overs.
Pakistan’s opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq contributed 78 runs to the victory. He faced just 84 balls hitting four sixes and five boundaries. He played a crucial role in setting the foundation for Pakistans win. Hasan Miraj took his wicket.
At the fourth position, Mohammad Rizwan also played a significant inning, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs. He faced 79 balls and hit one six and seven boundaries. Asif Ali remained not out at 12 runs.
Another opening batsman, Fakhar Zaman, scored 20 runs before getting out, hitting three boundaries in his 31-ball innings. He was dismissed by Bangladeshi bowler Asoriful Islam, and Pakistan had scored 35 runs at that point.
Captain Babar Azam contributed 17 runs before being bowled by Taskin Ahmed. Pakistan lost their second wicket at 74 runs.
Before that, two Bangladeshi batsmen had scored half-centuries in their innings. Captain Shakib Al Hasan played a knock of 53 runs, facing 57 balls and hitting seven boundaries. Mushfiqur Rahim added 64 runs to the total, and Liton Das and Mahmudullah scored 16 runs each. Afif Hossain contributed 12 runs, and Bangladesh managed to reach a total of 222 runs.
Pakistan’s bowler Haris Rauf took four wickets single-handedly, giving away only 19 runs in 6 overs. Another fast bowler, Nasim Shah, also took three wickets. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, and Shadab Khan claimed one wicket each.
