After defeating Papua New Guinea by 7 wickets in the match on Friday morning, Afghanistan secured a place in the last eight with one match remaining.
The target of 96 runs given by Papua New Guinea was completed by Afghanistan in 15.1 overs with the loss of 3 wickets.
During that time, Gulbadin Naib scored the highest 49 runs. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in 36 balls and remained not out.
Mohammad Nabi also remained not out scoring 16 runs.
Azmatullah Omarzai contributed 13 runs and Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 11 runs while Ibrahim Zadran was dismissed for a wicket.
On the bowling side, Papua New Guinea’s LE Nao, Simo Kamiya and Norman Vanua took one wicket each.

Fazalhaq Farooqui of Afghanistan took 3 wickets on the bowling side. Naveen Ul Haq took 2 wickets and Noor Ahmed took 1 wicket.
West Indies along with Afghanistan from Group C are sure to go to the last eight.
Both teams have won 6/6 points after playing three matches. Now they will play the last game against each other.
Uganda has 2 points. Papua New Guinea and New Zealand are scoreless. New Zealand have 2 matches to play.
