The ‘ChaSTE’ payload of Vikram Lander which recently successfully landed on the Moon’s surface as part of the Chandrayaan-3 mission has provided its first observations.
This payload developed by the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) at VSSC in collaboration with the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, is responsible for measuring the moon’s thermal conductivity and temperature. The observations reveal temperature variations with depth on the lunar surface.
