Kathmandu. The Nepali team in America for the World Cup has defeated the Houston Hurricanes in the first practice match. Nepal defeated Hurricanes by 6 runs in the match completed on Friday night at Prairie View Cricket Complex.
Chasing the target of 147 runs given by Nepal, the Hurricanes lost 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and ended up with 140 runs. Lahiru Milantha scored 33 runs while Ali Sheikh contributed 23 runs for Hurricanes.
Nepal’s Sompal Kami took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Karan KC took 2 wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs. Rohit Poudel, Kushal Bhurtel, Sagar Dhakal and Abhinash Bohra took one wicket each.
After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal scored 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Anil Kumar Shah scored 47 runs in 30 balls for Nepal. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored 23 runs and Gulsan Jha scored 20 runs.
Nepal will play the second and last practice match against the Hurricanes on Sunday morning. After that, Nepal will play two official warm-up matches of the World Cup. Nepal will start the T20 World Cup by playing against the Netherlands on 4th June i.e. 22nd June.
