Kathmandu: People have appreciated the government’s decision to shut down Tiktok. The cabinet meeting on Monday decided to ban Tiktok in Nepal. After the decision of the government, Annapurnapost understood the public’s opinion. Most of them praised the government for doing a good job by shutting down Tik Tok even though it was late.
We asked on Facebook, what do you think of the government’s decision to close Tiktok? In response to the question, Sanju Kazi mentioned that the government has taken a good decision even though it is late and Tiktok has destroyed every sector. Shiv Basnet praised the government as a welcome decision.
Similarly, Raviraj Sah says, ‘There is an impression that there is a strong government. Artists had fled to Madhes due to Tiktok.’ Basnet Kancho Kamal says that tiktok is the main means of creating distortion and conflict in the society. He believes that Tiktok was the main reason in the Dharan incident as well. Chandraprasad Devkota called it a welcome decision and suggested shutting down Tiktok forever.
Similarly, Luma Panthi said that the government has made a good decision because the people who should be engaged in production and development have forgotten to take care of themselves and their families. Yuvraj Gautam said that the abuse of Tiktok has increased in recent times to provoke social harmony. He said that social harmony is more important than freedom of expression.
Similarly, Tej Banjade has thanked the government saying that there are other adequate platforms for freedom of expression. Appreciating the government’s decision, Nirajan Aryal said that now the distortions and inconsistencies will end.
Prema Gurung said that even though Tiktok has many benefits, it is being misused in Nepal and the decision is correct. Mahanand Joshi also said that there are more misuses of Tiktok than its good use.
