Kathmandu: More than a dozen countries have blocked the popular video app Tik Tok for challenging privacy and cyber security. Some countries have banned Tiktok completely, while some countries have banned Tiktok in government agencies. Analysts have commented that Tiktok, which is owned by the Chinese technology company Bytens, is misusing public data.
For the same reason, Tiktok has been closed in Afghanistan, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, European Union, France, India, Latvia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Taiwan, UK, USA and other countries.
After the Taliban overthrew power in Afghanistan, the Chinese app TikTok decided to shut down. He said that he banned TikTok to protect the youth from confusion.
Similarly, the Australian federal government also banned TikTok on its government devices. Attorney General Mark Dreyfus said the decision was made in consultation with the country’s intelligence and security agencies.
The Belgian government also decided to shut down TikTok, keeping in mind cyber security and privacy. Prime Minister Alexander de Crowe said TikTok would be completely banned from devices owned by the federal government.
Similarly, Canada also banned the use of tickets on government devices saying that Ticketak increased the security risk. Similarly, Denmark’s Ministry of Defense banned TikTok. He also instructed his employees to remove the Tiktok app from their mobile phones.
Similarly, the European Union, France, Latvia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand also announced a ban considering the security risks. Similarly, India banned TikTok in 2020 due to privacy and security concerns.
