Kathmandu. More than 1,600 people have died in the ongoing conflict since Saturday after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel. More than 900 Israeli citizens were killed. More than 600 people have died on the Hamas-controlled side of Gaza. Citizens of more than 10 countries, including Nepal, have also died in the attack. Citizens of different countries are also injured and missing.
Israel’s military spokesman, Richard Hecht, said that more than 1,500 bodies of Hamas fighters have been found in the area around Gaza.
Israel has already declared that it is at war. The Israeli leadership says that only the initial retrenchment has been carried out. In response, Hamas has said that it will use hundreds of kidnapped Israelis to free its citizens. Ali Barakeh, the leader of Hamas, who is living in exile in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, told the news agency AP that they are ready for a long war. He says that they have enough weapons. Various countries are on Israel’s side regarding the ongoing conflict. Some countries are supporting Hamas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel said that more than 84 countries have issued statements of their support. Some countries including Iran, Qatar and Lebanon are supporting Hamas.
India, America, Britain, Australia, France, Norway, Austria, Germany, Canada, Poland and other countries are in favor of Israel. Nepal has also expressed its support for Israel. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, American President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron and other leaders expressed their support for Israel through tweets. The US has said that it will take warships and fighter planes to Israel in the Mediterranean Sea. It is said that it will provide arms and ammunition to Israel. Israeli officials have also asked China to support them.
Especially the countries of the Middle East are on the side of Hamas. Iran, Qatar, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Lebanon have supported Hamas. Iran is also providing military and financial aid to Hamas. Qatar has commented that Israel is responsible for the ongoing conflict. Lebanon has expressed solidarity with Hamas.
