Tel Aviv – Israel’s Security Council has decided to move the war against the militant groups Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to the offensive stage. On Sunday, the council also instructed the Israeli Defense Forces to take the security operation called “Operation Swords of Iron” to the offensive stage and to prepare for “a campaign to destroy the military and governance capabilities of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.”
“With the merciless attacks of Hamas, we are in a long and difficult war.” Israeli media quoted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as saying, “We will restore the security of Israeli citizens and we will win.” He says. He says that the attack phase has started with this.
According to the Israeli army, four battalions of reserve soldiers will be deployed in the border area with Gaza for the attack. Earlier, 35 battalions of soldiers are deployed in that area. Along with this, the Council has also decided to immediately stop the supply of electricity, fuel and other goods to the Gaza Strip. Israel made this decision after the Palestinian militant group attacked from Saturday. So far, 350 Israeli citizens have been killed and another 1,800 injured in the attack.
