Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Sunil Sharma Thunamukt has been released. Following the order from the District Court Kathmandu to release Thunamukt, who was in custody of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), MP Sharma was released on Friday evening.
After being released, MP Sharma has demanded the resignation of the Home Minister. He stated his demand for the immediate resignation of the Home Minister and issued a warning to the government that if the resignation doesn’t happen, the government will face consequences. He said, “The Home Minister must resign immediately. If he doesn’t step down, the government will fall.”
In the context of raising voices against the protectors of the gold smuggling case, Sharma’s statement comes under the direction of the Prime Minister, as he has been apprehended himself. He expressed, “I have been arrested under the Prime Minister’s directive. The Prime Minister is not as innocent as he appears. Our first step towards the peace process is also significant. The Prime Minister should understand that. We are the ones who would communicate with Girija Prasad Koirala over the phone.”
He also urged Congress leaders to reconsider the alliance. He said, Congress also needs to reconsider this alliance. Otherwise, the party might perish. Sharma pointed out that even Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand, who was arrested in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, should fight legally from outside for justice. He emphasized that Khand should engage in a legal battle from outside if he is not a fugitive.
