Communication and Information Minister Rekha Sharma has highlighted that Nepali films can compete in the international market. The Bhuvan Chaitanya Basundhara Foundation organized an award ceremony in the capital on Sunday where Minister Sharma addressed that Nepali films can participate in competitions with foreign films.
She emphasized the need for governments policy support and urged the producers to focus on maintaining quality in the digital era learning from the experiences of various countries in the film industry. Minister Sharma expressed the governments commitment to the development of the film sector and its recognition of the contributions made by film makers who dedicate their lives to this field.
Regarding the Film Act prepared by the Film Development Board she assured that discussions were underway in the council for a significant amendment.
Minister Sharma praised the contributions of actresses Basundhara Bhusal Chaitanya Devi and Bhuvan Chand to the Nepali film industry. She stated In the past the Nepali society faced significant challenges when daughters entered the film industry. Today’s generation can only imagine the struggle they had to go through. Their campaign played a vital role in the transformation of society and Nepali society will always evaluate this over the years.
During the program Minister Sharma presented various artists with awards including Yawad Kharel and Nir Shah from Harish Bhuvan Chand Awards Ganesh Rasik and actor Shiv Shrestha from Chaitanya Devi Singh Awards and actresses Mithila Sharma and Sharmila Mall from Basundhara Bhusal Awards.
