Kathmandu: Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the RSVP, has said that there is a need for revolution in our era. Launching the ‘nationwide pressure campaign’ from Melamchi, he claimed that revolution is necessary for change.
‘There were many protests in the country, I did not question its relevance. Every age demands its own kind. However, we are envisioning a kind of movement in which the leader takes the lead in order to give happiness to the people, not by making people suffer, but by addressing the current demand. Our age needs a revolution. Movements are needed for change. The nature and effectiveness of the movement may be different.’
He opined that since blood was spilled in yesterday’s red revolution, now we should sweat in the blue revolution that we will do. ‘There were red revolutions in history. We have not depreciated the red revolution, we will not do so. Lamichhane said, “Blood was shed in yesterday’s red revolution, now we want to sweat in the blue revolution we will do.” It is time to water this soil with sweat. Nor does it ever require a major revolution. But now is not the time.’
He claimed that the days of putting the people ahead and being behind him are gone. Lamichhane opined that leaders should change by making people suffer and not by making people suffer. ‘The politics of taking power from the people and oppressing the people should end. It was peacefully opposed by the RSVP. Lamichhane said, “Now we have reached to cause pain to the people. If something needs to be done, the leader should take the lead and move forward. It should be shown that it is not.’
He mentioned that 21 schemes have started pressure travel.
He was of the opinion that the people would be informed by submitting a memorandum with a solution rather than a memorandum of the problem. We have a team of experts and people with expertise. After the trip, we will submit the recommendation letter to the government.’ He said, “The government will not look at the recommendation letter we have given.” But don’t worry, in 84 the people will send the RASWPA to the government, then we will implement the priority list of the plans.’
