Kathmandu: Nepal Police Club has won the Prime Minister’s Cup National Cricket Tournament title. Police defeated another departmental team, Tribhuvan Army Club, by 6 wickets in the final held today at the Tribhuvan Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Police, who won the title, received Rs 10 lakh, while the runners-up, Army, received Rs 5 lakh. The general target of 182 runs given by the Army was completed by the Police in 35.5 overs with the loss of four wickets. For Police, Shankar Rana scored 62 runs off 43 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes.
Similarly, Arif Sheikh scored 27, Amit Shrestha scored 28 and Kushal Bhurtel scored 14 runs. Jitendra Mukhia, Kushal Malla, Sahab Alam and Basir Ahmed each took one wicket each for Army. After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Army lost all wickets in 49.5 overs and made a total of 181 runs.
For him, Vivek Yadav scored 63 runs in 81 balls with the help of seven fours and one six. Similarly, Sompal Kami scored 39 runs, Imran Sheikh scored 28 runs, Kushal Malla scored 17 runs and Jitendra Mukhia scored 16 unbeaten runs. For Police, Dipendra Singh Airi and Lalit Narayan Rajvanshi took three wickets each while Sagar Dhakal, Kushal Bhurtel and Karan KC took one wicket each
