India has won the title of the SAFF U-19 Championship for the third consecutive time. The championship was held in Kathmandu, and in the final, India defeated Pakistan 3-0 to clinch the title. Although the first half ended in a goalless draw, India scored three goals in the second half to secure an easy victory against Pakistan.
Prior to this, India had won the championship in 2019 and 2022 as well, making it a hat-trick of titles. In the previous editions of the championship held in 2015 and 2017, the Nepalese U-19 team had emerged as champions.
In the current edition, India scored their first goal against Pakistan in the 64th minute. Substitute player Magelthang Kipgen found the net to give India the initial lead. Kipgen also scored the second goal for India in the 85th minute, sealing a personal and team victory.
India managed to score their third goal during injury time. Gwagwam Sar Goyari scored the third goal for India. In the semifinals, India and Pakistan both won their matches in a penalty shootout to advance to the final, with India defeating Nepal and Pakistan overcoming Bhutan.
India has dominated youth football in the South Asian area thanks to this triumph, which also gives them the third straight SAFF U-19 Championship championship.
