President Joe Biden is departing from the United States on Friday for his visit to India in preparation for the G20 Summit.
On the first day of his trip, he will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. According to a statement released by the White House, he has planned a three-day itinerary that includes visits to Germany, India, and Vietnam. While he will be traveling outside the country, most of his time will be spent in India.
Before departing, President Biden’s COVID-19 test came back negative, as confirmed by the White House. For the G20 Summit, he will adhere to COVID-19 control and prevention guidelines provided by the Indian health authorities. Notably, just an hour before leaving for India, the President tested negative for COVID-19 again. First Lady Jill Biden, who had previously tested positive for the virus, has also received a negative test result today.
The White House noted that after leaving the United States, President Biden will be quarantined in Germany. In the evening, he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi for a bilateral meeting. After the official welcome ceremony, President Biden will participate in the G20 Summit sessions.
