After criticism during the Maoist Center’s party meeting about Vice-Chairperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, he traveled to Lamahi in Daang on Sunday. Due to regular contact with Chinese citizen Dawazin Wang, news of his association with gold smugglers started to circulate, which led to criticism of him during the Maoist Center’s party meeting.
Not just that, Maoist activists were also pressuring him to take action against him. At that time, he traveled to Daang. Following the Sun Taskari case involving electric cigarettes (vapes) with Dawazin Wang, there were rumors that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda was implicated in the gold case. This source informed that before that, there was Thuin.
After Mahara’s involvement in the case of bringing nine kilograms of gold to Nepal under the electric cigarette case, it was indicated that Prachanda had also been implicated in the gold case. Before this, he was also involved in a statement before the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). “I will give a statement to the CIB when necessary,” said Maoist Secretary Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
After the discussion about Mahara’s arrest in the party meeting, Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Finance Minister Pun also gave a statement to the CIB to support the investigation. Minister Shrestha had even said that if necessary, he is ready to resign and support the investigation, Paudel informed.
Although Minister Shrestha became a colleague, he had raised the issue of problems in the coalition by meeting Prime Minister Prachanda. After that, the Maoist Chairman also indicated that he would raise the issue of the names of party leaders involved in the government and the coalition during the investigation.
“It should be considered that even the Congress is involved in the government and the coalition. Attention should be paid to which files are being opened when it comes to corruption, and no one has thought about it. Attention should be paid to what needs to be hidden in government documents,” said Prachanda, as informed by sources.
After Prachanda’s statement, there was information that the Central Investigation Bureau would issue a statement. “We are issuing a statement to the CIB,” said Maoist Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa Pun.
Even though Maoist Chief Secretary Mahara was not a participant in the meeting, he was outside Kathmandu, said a government official.
After raising the issue against Mahara in the party meeting, Home Minister Shrestha had informed that “if necessary, Mahara should go to the CIB himself.”
Not just leaders, even Maoist activists have been pressuring Mahara to support the investigation and keep Maoist leaders under control.
