Rajendra Lingden a member of the National Prajatantra Party (RPP) has urged for the formation of an investigation committee for the quintal gold case and sought the support of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
Speaking during a parliamentary session on Tuesday Lingden along with the RPP chairman emphasized that the formation of a high level investigation committee for the gold case is essential to restore the public’s trust. He appealed to the government for cooperation in this matter noting that the government’s ongoing investigation is insufficient.
For the public to regain trust it’s necessary to form a high level investigation committee for the gold case. Please provide your support he stated. He clarified that the establishment of an investigation committee is not a sign of mistrust in the financial aspects of the government but rather a move for transparency.
Lingden highlighted that his interest lies in opening the Parliament not just through opposition efforts but also through the government’s willingness and interest. He refuted accusations that the move was meant to express mistrust in the government emphasizing that his intention is to ensure the government’s commitment to an open Parliament.
Expressing dissatisfaction he criticized the unity of the three parties for attempting to divide parliamentary committees against the parliamentary rules. The rules dictate how parliamentary committees are formed. The attempt by three parties to form a unified front is against the rules he said adding I call on the government and the concerned parties to pay attention to this matter.
He also accused certain individuals of attempting to manipulate the investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugees case and alleged that there are efforts to influence the Lalita Niwas land scandal.
