The two vice-chairs of the NCP (Maoist), Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janardan Sharma, have expressed their dissatisfaction with party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda over his lack of commitment to the party’s interests. During a program organized on Saturday in Kathmandu to discuss the current international situation and Nepal’s foreign policy-related actions, Chairman Oli stated that Prachanda did not do anything in the interest of the country during his recent visit to India.
He further said that in his previous visits to India, Prachanda had not achieved anything beneficial for the country. Oli remarked, “He went to India again. Tell me what agreements were made. He didn’t discuss our border issues. Many things like that were not addressed. The needs and interests of Nepal were not met. He was power-centric, not national-centric.”
Regarding the border issue with China, Oli mentioned that it should be resolved in collaboration with China. He asked, “How can we work with Japan on border issues? The border issue is only with India and China.” Oli stressed the need to have an open discussion with China regarding the border issue. He questioned, “If we can’t talk to our friends, what is the use of such power and government?”
On August 1, around 12 o’clock at night, Chandrayaan-3 was sent from Earth towards the moon. This is known as Trans-lunar injection. Before landing, Chandrayaan-3 will change its orbit four times. On August 6, 2023, at around 11 PM, Chandrayaan’s orbit will be reduced. Before landing on August 23, Chandrayaan will make four orbit changes.
ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) scientists reduced the speed of the spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 in the moon’s gravitational field 22 days after its launch, today, as per Nepali time, at 7 PM. Information about this has been reported by Indian media through X Post. ISRO has written in the X Post that it is MOX, ISTRAC. This is Chandrayaan-3. I feel the moon’s gravity. Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully placed in the moon’s orbit.
Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) central vice-chairs Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janardan Sharma have expressed their dissatisfaction with party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda for not taking any steps in the interest of the country during his recent visit to India. During the program held in Kathmandu on Saturday to discuss the current international situation and Nepal’s foreign policy-related actions, Chairman Oli criticized Prachanda for not doing anything in the country’s interest during his previous visits to India as well.
Prachanda and Sharma, considered competitors within the party, have also given messages from the central committee elected by the party’s cadres. They accuse each other of running factionalism within the party and not cooperating with Chairman Prachanda. The two leaders have been discussing their issues in the central committee for the last four days.
During the eighth party convention held in 2078 BS, both leaders had ambitions to become general secretaries. After a day, Prachanda appointed Dev Gurung as the general secretary, about six months after his election. Now, they are dissatisfied with Chairman Prachanda’s attitude towards them.
Chairman Prachanda has stated that he is ready to accept any proposal from the majority within the party. However, he has faced criticism from various factions even when he easily accepts such proposals. Then, what should be done?
Chairman Prachanda and Sharma have presented contrasting views within the party. Prachanda accuses Sharma of not cooperating with him and leading a factional group against him. Prachanda says that discussions should be held within the main group or among the various factions present in the party. He talks about resolving the problem through the party’s reorganization from the upcoming general convention.
The dissatisfaction of the two vice-chairs is based on the belief that their issues are not heard within the party. Despite not having any problems with other party leaders, Prachanda’s style of functioning has been criticized. Even though there is no clear line within the party, the mistrust has increased.
Chairman Oli has presented the party’s stance on unity with the Nepal Social Democratic Party led by Baburam Bhattarai and the Viplav-led faction within the NCP. But, he has not mentioned this matter either in a written report or in an oral presentation. Another vice-chair, Sharma, has presented it explicitly.
Chairman Oli is silent on this issue. Another vice-chair Sharma has clearly presented it.
