The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) under the Department of Revenue Investigation has taken over the case involving the seizure of 100 kilograms of gold. Initially, the Department of Revenue Investigation had conducted the gold investigation under the Prime Minister’s Office.
After facing criticism for not being able to conclusively investigate the gold case, the Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal decided to assign the responsibility of further investigation to the CIB. In the beginning the Prime Minister had put pressure on the police to conduct the gold investigation but now they have agreed to hand over the task to the CIB.
On a morning visit to the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar, Home Minister Shrestha also met with the Prime Minister and agreed to involve the police in the gold investigation process.
