“Nagar Upa-Pradhan (Deputy Mayor) of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, Vishan Rai, distributed free grass seeds (beruwa) to farmers, which were purchased using the ward budget.
With the aim of encouraging farmers engaged in animal husbandry to become more professional, Nagar Upa-Pradhan Rai informed that 523 farmers from 11 wards were provided with free distribution of improved varieties of Napier grass and Amilso.
Nagar Upa-Pradhan Rai stated that 100 farmers from Ward No. 1 Diktel, 50 from Ward No. 2 Solma, 50 from Ward No. 3 Bamrang, 30 from Ward No. 4 Khalle, 30 from Ward No. 5 Lafyang, 100 from Ward No. 6 Nerpa, 50 from Ward No. 7 Dorpachauridanda, 30 from Ward No. 9 Nirmalidanda, 30 from Ward No. 13 Nuthal, 30 from Ward No. 14 Bui, and 50 from Ward No. 15 Vijayakharka received free distribution of improved varieties of Napier and Amilso grass. Additionally, Super Napier, Smart Napier, Red Napier, and Bengali Red Napier were purchased from Ward No. 8 Dorpachauridanda and Ward No. 9 Nirmalidanda for distribution.
Nagar Upa-Pradhan Rai informed that the municipality has allocated a budget of one crore rupees for this year to promote livestock farming. Our goal is to make farmers involved in livestock farming self-reliant by providing subsidies for raising buffalo and milk-producing animals he said. We have motivated the farmers by providing free distribution of improved grass varieties obtained by purchasing them at our own expense.
The municipality has made preparations to determine the pocket areas for animal and agricultural businesses. The municipality is implementing the One Ward One Production program.
To boost agricultural production the municipality has adopted policies to connect animal husbandry with horticulture and also provide subsidies in various cash crops. Some farmers in the district’s main commercial center have received subsidies only for urbanization without actually doing any work.
All ten local levels in the district have connected farmers to commercial agriculture systems to increase their income. Some local levels in the district have planned to promote agriculture in their areas through production processing and marketing until marketization.”
