Today is the first Monday of the month of Shrawan. On the occasion of Shrawan Sankranti, there is a crowd of devotees visiting and worshiping at the Pashupatinath Temple since early morning.
On the occasion of Shrawan Monday, the Pashupati Area Development Trust has opened all four doors of the Pashupatinath Temple for devotees from 3 AM. Devotees have gathered in large numbers in the temple premises for worship and darshan.


During special occasions like today, arrangements have been made for devotees to enter Pashupatinath Temple from four different locations.
On the day of Shrawan Monday, there is a gathering of devotees at various Shivalayas (temples dedicated to Lord Shiva) across the country, including the Pashupatinath Temple. Shrawan is considered the month of Lord Shiva, and Mondays hold special significance.
According to the lunar calendar, this year, the month of Shrawan has an additional month, known as Malmas. The Nepal Panchang Determination Committee has announced that Shrawan Monday remains constant regardless of the presence of the additional month.
As per the solar calendar, when the sun transitions to the Cancer zodiac sign, it is also referred to as Karkat Sankranti.
Taking a bath in the morning and visiting the Pashupatinath Temple for worship and darshan fulfills the desires and brings immense blessings. Due to the strong religious beliefs, there is a special crowd of female devotees on Shrawan Mondays.

Devotees wearing red and green attire fill the Pashupati area. Extra arrangements, including separate footwear rooms, have been made considering the increasing crowd of devotees. All necessary arrangements for security have been made as well.
Married women pray for the long life of their husbands, while unmarried women pray for suitable life partners during the fast of Shrawan Monday, which is a prevalent practice. Seeking happiness, peace, and prosperity, everyone engages in worshiping Lord Shiva during the month of Shrawan and on Mondays, as mentioned in religious scriptures.
This year, there are five Mondays in the month of Shrawan, falling on the dates of Shrawan 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.
