On the subject of the Sun Gold Smuggling case, the Revenue Investigation Department has formed a six-member investigation committee under the coordination of Man Bahadur Poudel, the Director of the Research Division of the Revenue Department. The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit the necessary report within five days after conducting the investigation.
The seized gold has been handed over to the Tax Mahashakha (large branch) of the Central Bank in the Sun Customs Office area of the Tribhuvan International Airport. The Revenue Investigation Department estimates the seized gold to be around one hundred kilograms, but the actual quantity is yet to be confirmed by the Tax Mahashakha. It was seized along with eight persons, including security personnel, in an operation carried out by the Tax Mahashakha.
Businessman Deepak Malhotra has denied any involvement with the large quantity of gold seized from the Tribhuvan International Airport. He clarified his position during a press conference held in Kathmandu after his name was associated with the case in the media, stating that the news linking him to the confiscated gold was false, misleading, and untrue.

Protesting against the recently passed Meter Reading Bill brought forward by the government, a group of dissatisfied individuals staged a demonstration in front of the Parliament building. The protesters were kept under control by the police and detained for ten days while investigations into their involvement in the Sun Smuggling case are ongoing.
The High Court Patan has granted permission to investigate six individuals arrested in connection with the Sun Smuggling case for ten days. On Thursday, the accused were presented before the Revenue Investigation Department, and on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, other individuals were arrested and handed over to the department for investigation. The Revenue Department’s team had confiscated about a hundred kilograms of gold smuggled in the Bhansar pass near Tribhuvan International Airport.
In response to the ongoing political situation, 35 members of the Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress have been on a three-day hunger strike. They have been presenting various reports from different committees related to current political, economic, and social issues and expressed their dissatisfaction within the party. Along with addressing internal disputes, they also emphasized the need for leadership change within the Congress to move forward and bring about change in the country.
