Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated India for the first time in the Kava Women’s Volleyball Nations League volleyball competition held in the capital.
Nepal registered a historic victory by defeating India 3-2 in the match held at the National Sports Council (Rakhep) Covered Hall in Tripureshwar today. Nepal defeated India for the first time in women’s volleyball tournament. This is Nepal’s second victory in the ongoing competition.
Nepal won the first set 25-18 in a very competitive match. India won the second set 25-12 in their favor. Nepal won the third set. Nepal beat India 25-17. But after losing the fourth set 18-25, Nepal defeated India 15-13 in the final and decisive fifth set.
Along with Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Iran are participating in the championship. The top four teams will play the semi-finals. As part of the tournament, Sri Lanka and Maldives will meet in the first match tomorrow at 3 pm, while Nepal will play against Iran in the second match at 5:30 pm. Both the matches will be held in the covered hall of the National Sports Council (Rakhep) in Tripureshwar.
In their first match of the ongoing tournament, Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in straight sets. Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 25-19, 25-18, and 25-19.
