Agency – The host Sri Lanka is close to winning the ACC Women’s Asia Cup title. The home team reached the final after defeating Pakistan by 3 wickets in the second semi-final on Friday.
Sri Lanka completed the target of 141 runs given by Pakistan in 19.5 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. Captain Chamari Athapatthu scored 63 runs off 48 balls with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes. Anushka Sanjivani scored 24 runs off 22 balls. For Pakistan, Sadia Iqwal took 4 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs.
Before that, Pakistan, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 140 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. For Pakistan opener Muniba Ali scored 37 runs off 34 balls while another opener Gul Feroza added 25 runs off 24 balls.
Captain Nida Dar and Fatima Sana scored 23 runs while Alia Riaz scored 16 unbeaten runs in 15 balls. Kavisha Dilhari and Udishika Prabodhani of Sri Lanka took 2 wickets each.
Sri Lanka will play against India on Sunday for the Asia Cup title. Former champions India secured their place in the final with a 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first semi-final held today.
India is the champion of 7 out of 8 editions. Bangladesh won the title in 2018.
