It has been raining in various places across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.
The federal capital has been witnessing incessant rains for the last 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
According to the details given by the Division at 7:48 am, in the last 24 hours, very heavy rain has occurred in one place and heavy rains in seven places in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the Division, in the last 24 hours, 124.8 millimeters (mm) of rain has fallen in Lele of Lalitpur in the Kathmandu Valley. Rainfall above 100 millimeters (mm) is called very heavy rain in a meteorological term.
Similarly, 95 mm of rain was recorded in Godawari of Lalitpur, 86 mm in Naikap of Kathmandu, 85.6 mm in Kirtipur of Kathmandu, 67.6 mm in Tikathali of Lalitpur, 61.2 mm in Panipokhari of Kathmandu, 58.4 mm in Babarmahal of Kathmandu and 57 mm in Dhapdyam of Kathmandu.
Similarly, rainfall more than 50 mm is called heavy rain.
According to Pratibha Manandhar, a meteorologist at the MFD, it has been raining in Kathmandu Valley for the past 24 hours.
“The rain is likely to continue for the whole day today”, she said.
