South Africa has history in the first semi-final match of the T20 World Cup. In this match played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Thursday morning, South Africa defeated Afghanistan and entered the final.
Batting first in today’s match, the Afghanistan team was bowled out for just 56 runs. This is the lowest score made by batting first in Afghanistan’s T20 history.
South Africa achieved the target of 57 runs in 8.5 overs with the loss of one wicket. South Africa managed to enter the final by scoring 60 runs after losing one wicket. The opener of this team, Kwanton de Kock, was dismissed for 5 runs. He was bowled by Fazal Haq Farooqui. Then Reeza Hendricks scored 29 runs in 25 balls and Aiden Markram scored 23 runs in 21 balls to easily win the team.
Along with this, the South African team has managed to reach the final of any ICC event for the first time. Even though he played semi-finals many times in ODI and T20 side, he never managed to reach the final. However, this time, South Africa did not allow themselves to be chokers and made history and reached the final.
South Africa will now face the winner of the second semi-final between India and England in the final for the title.
