Kathmandu . As the city continues to heat up during the summer season, long queues of people were seen in parts of the capital Delhi to fetch water from tankers on Saturday.
Due to lack of water in the capital Delhi during the summer, people from villages in Mayur Bihar region, Sanjay Colony, Okhla region and Geeta Colony were seen standing in queues, holding cans and buckets and moving around the water tankers. Amid rising temperatures, such a scene has become a daily occurrence in the capital region since the start of this year’s summer season.
Meanwhile, Delhi Water Minister Atishi went on an indefinite hunger strike on Friday, accusing the Haryana government of not releasing water to Delhi.
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused the AAP government of ‘planning’ the crisis to ‘encourage corruption’.
Swaraj mentioned that the water crisis is not a natural crisis but the Kejriwal government is planning to encourage the illegal tanker mafia.
He alleged that the Kejriwal government was only indulging in drama while the city was dry and Delhi was in an uneasy condition. He said that instead of taking adequate steps, Minister Atishi is only engaged in drama and is threatening the people of Delhi with hunger strike.
