The attorney office has registered a case against 290 individuals in the District Court under charges of irregularities in government properties.

It has been reported that the decision has been made to also bring former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai into the case.

Sudhir Kumar Shah, the former Chief Election Commissioner, has been appointed to represent them. The Central Investigation Bureau’s research report has been studied, and the attorney office has initiated the case based on its findings.

The CIB report suggests that the decision-maker should not be held liable, and this recommendation includes both former Prime Ministers Nepal and Bhattarai. However, the Supreme Court had ordered an investigation against the decision-maker as well.

The report clarifies that the CIB had taken statements from Nepal and Bhattarai only a day before the investigation was brought within its purview.

The government attorney office has only made employees, intermediaries, and businesspeople the defendants in the case. The police had received permission to arrest 406 individuals.

It has been mentioned in the report that intermediaries had registered government properties in their names in 2049 BS, 2062 BS, 2066 BS, and 2069 BS.

In 2049 BS, 112 ropanis and 4 aanas were registered, in 2062 BS, 12 aanas and 2 paisa were registered, in 2066 BS, 25 ropanis and 7 aanas were registered, and in 2069 BS, 5 ropanis were registered in the name of individuals.
