French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have excluded star forward Kylian Mbappé from their squad for the pre-season tour in Asia.
PSG has decided not to include Mbappé in the squad for friendly matches, aiming to avoid competition and potential injuries amid ongoing negotiations. If a new agreement is not reached with the player’s agent, the club plans to keep him away from the squad.
The current agreement states that Mbappé will become a free agent after this season. However, PSG is keen to renew his contract. If Mbappé declines the offer, the club is considering selling him to another club and making a profit from the transfer.
The young French striker has been linked with a move to Spanish club Real Madrid for a long time. His intention to join Real Madrid as a free agent next season has raised concerns at PSG.
Mbappé now has the option to negotiate a new contract or extend the current agreement for an additional year. If he does not, PSG may consider selling him to another club. The club is reportedly demanding more than 100 million euros for his transfer.
In 2017, PSG signed Mbappé from Monaco for a record 165 million pounds, making him the second most expensive player in history. He has scored 212 goals in 260 appearances, becoming PSG’s all-time leading scorer.
PSG has already appointed Spanish coach Luis Enrique for the new season. After Lionel Messi’s departure from the club last season, there were concerns about the impact on PSG’s attack. Now, with Mbappé also absent, more responsibility is expected to fall on Neymar.
