During the Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday, it was decided that the Prime Minister would partake in Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. Prime Minister Prachanda had previously undertaken an official visit to India in May last year.
In 2014, the then-Prime Minister Late Sushil Koirala had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi. During that time, heads of state and government from various South Asian countries participated in the ceremony.
Last Wednesday, Prime Minister Prachanda engaged in a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart, Modi. During the call, various matters of mutual and common interest were discussed. Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his readiness to collaborate with the newly formed Indian government to bolster the Nepal-India relationship.
Following the results of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in India, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats, while Prime Minister Modi’s party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, clinched 240 seats.
