During the study, the committee has already discussed with the relevant bodies including manpower professionals. During that time, the businessmen have demanded that they should get a service fee equal to one month’s basic salary of the workers.
Eight years after the government implemented ‘Free Visa Free Ticket’, this provision has been reversed. On June 21, 2072, the Ministry arranged that the employer will bear the cost of visa and ticket for Nepali workers going to labor destination countries: Malaysia, Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Oman.
The then Labor Minister TekBahadur Gurung arranged that Manpower could charge Rs 10,000 as a service fee to the workers. After a long sit-in and agitation by the businessmen against it, it was agreed on ‘free visa and free ticket’.
