लंदन: स्कॉटलैंड के एबरडीन में आग लगने से दो नेपाली बहनों की मौत हो गई.
स्थानीय पुलिस ने पुष्टि की कि एबरडीन के बैक हिल्टन रोड में रहने वाली आंचल सुबेदी और शिक्षा सुबेदी की सोमवार शाम को आग में जलने से मौत हो गई।
शिक्षा की उम्र 24 साल और आंचल की उम्र 28 साल है. उनके पिता पोखरा विश्वविद्यालय के पूर्व प्रोफेसर डॉ. यज्ञ प्रसाद सुबेदी हैं।
एबरडीन में नेपाली हिमालयन एसोसिएशन स्कॉटलैंड के अध्यक्ष डॉ. शिव तिवारी के अनुसार, आग के कारण निकले धुएं के कारण दम घुटने से सुबेदी बहनों की मौत हो गई।
जिस फ्लैट में वे रहते थे वह दूसरी मंजिल पर था और आग शाम 6 बजे उसी इमारत की पहली मंजिल पर लगी। जैसे ही उन्हें पता चला कि आग लग गई है, वे जल्दी से नीचे गए और बाहर निकलने की कोशिश की। भारी धुएं से दम घुटने के बाद वे ग्राउंड फ्लोर का दरवाजा खोलने से पहले ही बेहोश हो गए।
आग लगने के बाद पहुंचे दमकलकर्मियों ने इमारत की ऊपरी मंजिल पर अन्य फ्लैटों में मौजूद लोगों को सफलतापूर्वक बचा लिया, लेकिन बेहोश बहनों को ग्राउंड फ्लोर पर बचाया जा पाता, इससे पहले ही उनकी मौत हो गई।
डॉ. तिवारी ने कहा कि बचाव संभव नहीं था क्योंकि बहनों की पांच मिनट के भीतर मौत हो गई। समझा जाता है कि हालांकि ऊपरी मंजिल पर रहने वाले लोगों को बचा लिया गया, लेकिन जिन बहनों ने खुद भागने की कोशिश की, वे धुएं में दम घुटने से मरने को मजबूर हो गईं.
यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि आग कैसे लगी, लेकिन पुलिस ने कहा कि घटना संदिग्ध नहीं लग रही है.
परिवार के एक करीबी सूत्र ने बताया कि अस्पताल में पोस्टमार्टम और पुलिस जांच की औपचारिकताएं पूरी कर ली गई हैं और बहनों का अंतिम संस्कार अगले सप्ताह मंगलवार को किया जाएगा।
सुबेदी का परिवार, जिनका घर नेपाल में पोखरा है, लगभग दो दशकों से स्कॉटलैंड के एबरडीन में रह रहे हैं।
उनकी तीन बेटियों में से एक अपने पति के साथ रह रही है। आग में जलकर मरने वाली दोनों बहनें भी हाल ही में अपने माता-पिता के पास अलग-अलग फ्लैट में रहती थीं।
मृतकों में बहन आंचल इंजीनियर थी, जबकि बहन शिक्षा आईटी की पढ़ाई कर समुद्र तट पर काम करती थी।
London: Two Nepali sisters died in a fire in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Aanchal Subedi and Shiksha Subedi, who lived in Back Hilton Road, Aberdeen, died in a fire on Monday evening, local police confirmed.
Shiksha is 24 years old and Aanchal is 28 years old. Their father is Dr. Yagya Prasad Subedi, former professor of Pokhara University.
According to Dr Shiv Tiwari, president of Nepalese Himalayan Association Scotland in Aberdeen, the Subedi sisters died due to suffocation due to the smoke released due to the fire.
The flat they lived in was on the second floor and the fire started on the first floor of the same building at 6 pm. As soon as they came to know that there was a fire, they hurriedly went down and tried to get out. After they were suffocated by the huge smoke, they fell unconscious before they could open the door of the ground floor.
The firemen who arrived after the fire started successfully rescued the people in the other flats on the upper floor of the building, but the unconscious sisters died before they could be rescued on the ground floor.
Dr. Tiwari said that rescue was not possible as the sisters died within five minutes. It is understood that although the people living on the upper floor were rescued, the sisters who tried to escape by themselves were forced to die of suffocation in the smoke.
It is not clear how the fire started, but police said the incident does not appear to be suspicious.
A source close to the family said that the post-mortem and police investigation formalities have been completed at the hospital and the funeral of the sisters will be held on Tuesday next week.
Subedi’s family, whose home is Pokhara in Nepal, has been living in Aberdeen, Scotland for almost two decades.
One of their three daughters is living with her husband. The two sisters who died in the fire also lived in separate flats near their parents recently.
Among the deceased, sister Anchal was an engineer, while sister Shiksha, who had studied IT, worked at the beach.
