New Delhi. The TV viewership of the ongoing
ODI World Cup in India has increased by 43 percent. This data was released by
Star Sports and ICC, the official sponsors of the 2023 World Cup.
In the first 18 matches of the World Cup, the broadcaster has received a total of 12,380 million minutes of ‘watchtime’. This is 43% more than the first 18 matches of the 2019 ODI World Cup.
This time, a total of 5.42 lakh people reached the stadium to watch the first 18 matches. This is 1.90 lakh more than the last World Cup in England.
The first 18 matches of the tournament were watched live on TV by 36.4 million viewers. The India-New Zealand match on October 22 recorded the highest single viewership for a single match on digital platform Disney Hotstar. At the same time, 4.3 million people watched it live.
It is the most watched match ever in any format of cricket on the digital platform. Earlier this record was set on 14 October in the India-Pakistan match. It was watched by 3.5 million people at once. The total audience for this game was 7.6 million.
