Today, in Paltari of Gandaki Rural Municipality-6, Gorkha, an Ajingar (Python) was found. Ajingar, weighing approximately 22 kilograms, was discovered near the Trishuli River on a road close to the Sub-Divisional Forest Office, Sirenitar, according to Ravianand Gopali, the Chief Forest Officer of the office.
Ajingar was found in the vicinity of the newly constructed permanent bridge connecting Bhimlichok in Gandaki Rural Municipality and Fisling Gaunpalika in Chitwan, located on the gravel road towards Gorkha. “Ajingar is one of the three constrictor animals found in the region,” informed Chief Forest Officer Gopali, “This protected animal is found in the forested areas.”
The Chief Forest Officer Gopali shared that Ajingar was discovered near the unpaved road that has been recently constructed. “Local residents informed us, and after that, the Chairman Tul Bahadur Gurung reported to the office about the discovery of Ajingar,” said Gopali. “Immediate staff was dispatched from the office to rescue Ajingar.”
It is challenging to determine whether the found Ajingar was left there by floodwaters or brought by someone, Gopali explained. As for now, Ajingar, which has been rescued, is being kept at the Sub-Divisional Forest Office, and its final placement will be decided later.
“It’s not yet concluded whether Ajingar will be released in the same area or kept in Chitwan,” he stated, “Considering the range where the discovered Ajingar was found, it’s possible that it might find its habitat even in the area where it was found.”
The rescue of Ajingar was carried out with the assistance of forest officials Gopal and Ambika Sharma, along with the help of local residents. This is reportedly the first time that an Ajingar has been found in this region.
