Beijing, June 6: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has arrived in China today for an official visit. He was welcomed at the Beijing Capital International Airport by Chinese government officials, including the Minister of Sports and General Administration of Sport and the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Gao Zhidan. On this occasion, there was also a reciprocal visit by the Nepalese Ambassador to China, Vishnupukar Shrestha, and the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Soh Poon.
Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to address the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which he will attend from New York. He had addressed the UN General Assembly on September 22 as well. Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud and other members of the delegation will also accompany Prime Minister Dahal.
Following these engagements, Prime Minister Dahal will visit the Chinese capital, Beijing, on September 25. In Beijing, he will engage in bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and review the progress made in agricultural and industrial development in the Chongqing Municipality of China. Information will also be exchanged on modern agricultural practices and techniques adopted by China in this sector. The success achieved in a short time frame by the Chongqing Municipality in agriculture and technology will be studied during the visit.
According to the itinerary of this visit, Prime Minister Dahal will also hold discussions with Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and address the Permanent Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. In addition, he will deliver a speech at the Nepal-China Investment Summit, which is jointly organized by the Nepal China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
For the summit, Nepalese industrialists and businessmen, under the leadership of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), have also arrived here. Afterward, Prime Minister Dahal is scheduled to travel to Tibet, the autonomous region of China adjoining Nepal’s border, where he will meet high-ranking Chinese officials. He is also set to return to Nepal with his delegation on September 30.
